Visual Culture and Language- 1
When I first enrolled in this course, the term visual culture and language meant very little to me. Now that I have nearly finished reading McCloud’s “Understanding Comics” I realize that these elements constantly surround me in my day-to-day life. Visual language can virtually be any visual element that communicates to you in some way.
Visual culture and language both relate to my major, public relations and advertising, in many ways. Almost every advertisement ever created, besides radio advertisements, has some type of visual element to it. From photos and graphics to different elements of design, visual language is a large component of advertising. When it comes to my career, I will be using visual language each and every time I create a marketing campaign. I will have to think about elements such as: lines, color, icons, graphics, and word-picture relationships in order to successfully communicate the intended message.
I look forward to further developing my understanding of visual culture and language throughout the semester.
